Summary

These two volumes include presentations from the seminar, "Rural Land Management", that took place in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on 27th-28th April 1998. They make it possible to take stock of existing know-how in the area of public decision-making applied to rural land management. The issues discussed are mainly linked to actual cases and experiments in the field: dynamics of rural areas, methods developed and research results, the role of participants and the decision-making process, definition and choice of possible development strategies, evaluation of public policies.
