If you wish to publish a workin one of our series, the first thing to do is to fill in a requestfor publication and send it to us by e-mail or by post.
Examination of requests
Your project is forwarded tothe members of the Quae editorial committee. A publisher will contact you ifmore information is needed and will present your project to the editorialcommittee.
Acceptance of the request
You will receive a decisionon your request within a month of the next editorial committee meeting. If thedecision is favourable, an editor will meet with you and give you certaininstructions and recommendations (style and form to be adapted to the targetreadership, maximum/minimum number of pages, number and type of illustrationspossible depending on the collection, etc).
Before beginning to draftyour manuscript, you are strongly encouraged to read the advice andrecommendations given in the notes to authors.You may also consult the template with style sheets, which should be of help.Acceptance will not be final until the manuscript has been given scientificapproval.
Once your manuscript hasbeen accepted, our legal team will contact you (see contracts and permission to reproduce).The publisher's production team will work closely with the author in producingthe work. Contracts and permission to reproduce
According to the Berneconvention for the protection of artistic and literary works and theintellectual property act, you will be asked to relinquish your rights andprovide proof of permission to reproduce any parts of your manuscript alreadypublished elsewhere.
Transfer of copyright and contracts
For a collective orcollaborative work, each principal author of each article (or chapter) and eachauthor of illustrations will have to transfer copyright before publication. Thecoordinator of the work in question should send each of them the relevant form.If there are several illustrations, a list of illustrations and captions shouldbe appended to the copyright transfer form.
The author or coordinator ofthe work will be required to sign a publication contract transferring his orher copyright in exchange for the publisher's undertaking to publish the work,specifying the agreed conditions. The contract will be submitted to the author orcoordinator by our legal team.
Permission to reproduce
Authors should provide thepublisher with an original text and illustrations. If any part of themanuscript is drawn from a work already published, permission to reproduce theelement in question must be obtained from the publisher of that work, and thesource of the element must be quoted in full (see the note to authors).
