Summary

More than 40 authors, all concerned by some aspect of the mountain, from farmers to high-ranking government representatives, and including elected officials, socio-professionals, scientists, etc., present their view of the mountain, 20% of the national territory and an exceptional environment where nature encounters socio-economic issues. This collection is organised on the basis of a professional career, that of Louis Guimet, the first director of the Mountain Department of the Cemagref, who died in June 1993.
